Ive read a few other blogs with a similar realignment plans based on current and geographical rivalries and everyone keeps finishing with the same issue. <br /><br />The new American League would be waaaay to powerful. Of the 11 teams with a team payroll over $100,000,000 only 3 of them would be in the new National League. The new AL East would have an average payroll of almost $112,000,000 with the addition of the Mets.<br /><br />Its understandable that MLB would want to shake things up to distance today's game from the steroid era.
